This week, the Congressional Integrity Project sent a letter to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer demanding he release copies of all of his tax returns and bank statements for the past ten years. This letter follows the unprecedented level of access to President Biden and his family’s finances Comer has received as part of his investigation into President Biden. Comer has only released two years of tax returns versus the 25 years that President Biden released.
The letter explains that Comer himself has a history of corruption, such as co-sponsoring a bill to forgive COVID-19 PPP loans that his brother benefitted from, weaponizing the government to leak a journalist’s private email and orchestrating a grand jury investigation of his political opponent, and flip-flopping his position on gambling after the CEO of Churchill Downs donated to his campaigns. The release of Comer’s bank records will shine a light on this corruption for the American people.
The Congressional Integrity Project also launched a new paid digital ad campaign in the eighteen Republican-held districts that were won by Biden in 2020. The ads call out the Biden 18 for supporting a MAGA, extremist agenda, including an evidence-free impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, over the American people.
These ads are part of a months-long, seven-figure advocacy campaign run by the Congressional Integrity Project to hold Republicans accountable for ignoring critical priorities and instead, focusing on bogus investigations and an evidence-free impeachment inquiry to hurt President Biden and help Donald Trump return to the White House. The ads come after Johnson doubled down on a bogus Biden impeachment inquiry this weekend.
This week, Chairman Comer announced that after 10 months of abject failure, he plans to wrap up his impeachment investigation. But he is missing one key fact: he hasn’t uncovered a single shred of wrongdoing by President Biden.
