Washington, D.C. – Today, Speaker MAGA Mike Johnson announced he will soon decide on whether to move forward on articles of impeachment against President Biden, despite the fact that in the past year, MAGA House Republicans have been investigating President Biden, they have not found a single shred of evidence of wrongdoing. Even their own witnesses at the first impeachment hearing, everyone from Fox News and other right-wing news outlets to GOP staffers and other members of Congress publicly admitted there was not enough evidence to warrant impeachment.
In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Just like Kevin McCarthy, Jim Jordan, James Comer, and their MAGA House Republican allies, Speaker MAGA Mike Johnson is beholden to Donald Trump. They are desperate to distract from Trump’s 91 criminal counts and the House Republicans’ total inability to govern. Comer and his committee have reviewed thousands of pages of bank records and held countless interviews and hearings and yet have uncovered absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing whatsoever by President Biden. House Republicans need to give up this sham impeachment effort and start focusing on the important issues hard-working Americans are facing across the country.”
