Washington, D.C. – Today, reporting said that Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan and Oversight Chairman James Comer sent a letter to D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb regarding the investigation into Leonard Leo. The letter claims the investigation targets Republican donor privacy. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement.
“Leonard Leo is a massive financier of the MAGA agenda. At this point, it’s no surprise that Jordan and Comer are continuing to weaponize their chairmanships and their committees against legitimate investigations, especially if they perceive those investigations as a threat to the bottom line of one of MAGA’s major donors. They are already abusing their power to protect Donald Trump, it makes sense that they would want to shield his allies from accountability as well.”
