Congressional Integrity Project January 22, January 26, 2024 Summary

Jan 26, 2024

This week, the Congressional Integrity Project continued to drive the narratives against the baseless, fact-free impeachment attempts of President Biden and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

In newly released transcripts, “bombshell witnesses” in the baseless impeachment investigation of President Biden turned up to be nothing but a dud. Transcripts of an interview with Kevin Morris and Mervyn Yan, like other transcripts and testimonies to date, including the testimonies from Georges Bergès and Devon Archer, completely refute the GOP’s allegations behind the bogus Biden impeachment stunt. This is yet another blow to Chairman James Comer who has failed to call a single witness who has been able to support their evidence-free claims against President Biden and is now viewed as an embarrassment to his GOP colleagues for his repeated faceplants.

Also, the House Homeland Security Committee announced a markup of articles of impeachment against DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, even though the committee has found no evidence whatsoever of impeachable offenses by the secretary. This all comes on the heels of a newly leaked memo that shows Republicans never even cared about the facts all along; they planned to move forward with the proceedings even before any hearing, evidence, or testimony was given. This impeachment attempt is an unconstitutional political stunt, since their sole reasoning for impeachment is based on policy differences, and the Constitution doesn’t even allow for impeachment based on policy differences

CIP sent out 7 rapid-response products, including statements, fact sheets, and roundups.

the House Oversight Committee released their interview transcripts with Hunter Biden’s friend and lawyer, Kevin Morris, which refutes the GOP allegations behind the bogus Biden impeachment stunt.

In a new piece in The Messenger, James Comer’s GOP colleagues expressed their frustrations with the absolute dud that is  Comer’s impeachment stunt after a year of investigations.

The House Homeland Security Committee announced a markup of articles of impeachment against DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, even though the committee has found no evidence whatsoever of impeachable offenses by the secretary.

New year, same Comer. The House Oversight chairman can’t stop embarrassing himself as part of his failed, political stunt-filled investigation into President Biden.

This week was a bad one for both the House Oversight Committee and Homeland Security in their baseless impeachment attempts of President Biden and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
