Washington, D.C. – Today, House Speaker MAGA Mike Johnson sent a ridiculous letter to his colleagues promising to push through House Republicans’ baseless impeachment of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas even though the committee has found no evidence whatsoever of impeachable offenses by the Secretary in their year-long investigation. This letter follows last week’s leaked memo that shows Republicans never even cared about the facts all along; they planned to move forward with this baseless impeachment even before any hearing, evidence, or testimony was given. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Mike Johnson is a political hack and a fraud. He and his MAGA colleagues in the House have said that the border is the crisis of our lifetimes, but on orders from Donald Trump they are scuttling a plan to fix it while pursuing a politically motivated impeachment to fan the flames of a crisis they refuse to help solve. The MAGA Republican Majority in the House is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Trump for President Campaign and they will do anything to please him and help the disgraced former insurrectionist President return to power. It’s disgusting, immoral and unpatriotic – but that’s Trump – and that’s MAGA.”
