Mar 22, 2024

This week, the Congressional Integrity Project sent a letter to Rep. James Comer calling on him to investigate corruption and influence peddling by the Trump family during their time in the White House. In light of Chairman Comer’s comments at a Congressional hearing about his desire to investigate influence peddling, CIP is urging him to take a look at the extensive list of corrupt business deals by the Trump family.

Watch Congressional Integrity Project’s new reel on Republicans and right-wing media admitting that Comer’s impeachment inquiry is dead, and it’s time to move on.

The Congressional Integrity Project hosted a press briefing featuring Representative Dan Goldman (NY-10), and state-wide advocates to declare that the baseless and politically motivated impeachment inquiry of President Biden is over. Speakers will call on New York’s House Republicans in Biden districts – Reps. Mike Lawler, Anthony D’Esposito, Nick Lalota, Marc Molinaro, Brandon Williams – to move on from political stunts and failed investigations and focus on the real issues affecting everyday New Yorkers. Advocates from across New York will highlight the real priorities that matter to them like expanding access to health care for retired Americans and mental health services for children, skyrocketing grocery and housing prices, and more.

The Congressional Integrity Project sent a letter to Rep. James Comer calling on him to investigate corruption and influence peddling by the Trump family during their time in the White House.

MAGA Republicans held yet another baseless hearing in their impeachment investigation with repeat, Trump-aligned witnesses, and without proving a single shred of evidence of wrongdoing whatsoever by President Biden.

Rep. Dan Goldman (NY-10) and advocates in New York joined a virtual press briefing to declare the end of the baseless impeachment inquiry of President Biden, and call on New York’s House Republicans in Biden districts to move on from this political stunt and focus on the real issues affecting every day New Yorkers.

Like every other week since the Biden impeachment inquiry was launched, James Comer and the Oversight Committee have still failed to find a single shred of evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden let alone an impeachable offense.

CIP was mentioned or quoted in the following 2 articles or news appearances.

The Independent: Lev Parnas dishes dirt on Rudy Giuliani and escaping the ‘Trump cult’ in madcap Biden impeachment hearing. “Kyle Herrig, the executive director of the Congressional Integrity Project, said in a statement that it was ‘far past time’ for Mr Comer ‘to end this ridiculous charade and get to work for the American people’. ‘To call this hearing a clown show would be an insult to hardworking clowns everywhere. There is nothing entertaining about watching Comer, Jordan, and MAGA Republicans make fools of themselves week after week, month after month, while they ignore the real concerns of the American people. Impeachment is dead, and it’s time to move on,’ he said.” [The Independent, 3/20/24]

Washington Examiner: Democratic group demands Comer turn focus to Trump after Biden impeachment falters. “In a letter sent to Comer on Thursday, the Democratic-aligned Congressional Integrity Project pressed the House Oversight Committee chairman to drop his efforts to investigate Biden and instead turn his focus to the former president and his son-in-law for alleged influence peddling. ‘We are writing to assist you in your efforts to hold actual corrupt government officials accountable for business deals with foreign adversaries that demonstrate a disturbing willingness to put personal interests ahead of our national security,’ reads the letter, which was first obtained by the Washington Examiner. ‘If you are still interested in oversight and accountability as you have repeatedly claimed, looking into the Trump family influence peddling would be a great next step.’” [Washington Examiner, 3/21/24]
