Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressional Integrity Project released an updated report following the news of Donald Trump’s latest indictment. The report, titled House Republicans Weaponize Congress Against Our Justice System To Defend Former President Trump From His Criminal Indictments, and Appease the MAGA Base, At All Costs, details how MAGA Republicans have used their positions to try to obstruct the legitimate investigations into their leader Donald Trump, instead of supporting the rule of law. Congressional Integrity Project executive director Kyle Herrig said the following:
“Since Donald Trump’s fourth indictment, James Comer, Jim Jordan, Kevin McCarthy, and their fellow MAGA Republicans in Congress have proved they will go to any lengths they can to defend their disgraced former president. They are threatening to defund the FBI, holding hearings attacking law enforcement officials, and harassing them on right-wing media. No one is above the law, including Trump, but Republicans are willing to weaponize the House of Representatives in an attempt to help Trump escape justice for his alleged crimes.”
