Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Judiciary Weaponization subcommittee held a nothingburger of a hearing on the so-called Twitter files. Jim Jordan was recently exposed as a fraud as part of another one of his investigations by this subcommittee and today’s hearing did nothing to restore a shred of his credibility. In response, Congressional Integrity Project Executive Director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Despite what Jim Jordan appears to think, a loud lie is still a lie. Today’s Twitter hearing was chock-full of incomprehensible rants and conspiracy theories spouted by House Republicans, nothing more than a political stunt that yet again failed to prove any ‘weaponization’ by the federal government. Last week’s revelations show that the whistleblowers Jordan propped up were nothing more than fraudsters paid by a Trump ally. Because of this, Jim Jordan and his fellow MAGA Republicans desperately needed a win today. As expected, this was another failure on a long list of failures in the past two months.”
