Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing with MAGA Trump-appointed prosecutor Robert Hur over his investigation into President Biden’s handling of classified documents. The transcript of an interview with President Biden released today shows that Hur lied about President Biden in his final report to throw political punches. This hearing was more of the same – political stunts from the MAGA playbook to air Trump’s grievances. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Robert Hur went far outside of his job description to misrepresent President Biden and take a political punch at him. He clearly acknowledged that the President committed no crime, charges would not be filed, and the vast differences between Trump and Biden’s documents cases. MAGA Republicans, including Robert Hur, are bending over backward to do the bidding of Donald Trump – whose mishandling of classified documents and attempts to avoid justice is obvious. Today’s hearing was an unmitigated disaster for Republicans which backfired spectacularly. It’s far past time for MAGA Republicans to drop their baseless stunts and focus on the priorities of the American people.”
