Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Oversight Committee and House Judiciary Committee held markups to hold Hunter Biden in contempt for not testifying, despite the President’s son showing up to today’s House Oversight hearing offering to testify publicly. One of the committees is chaired by a colossal hypocrite who for over a year has defied a lawful subpoena issued by the January 6th Select Committee and the other is chaired by a coward who repeatedly offered Hunter Biden the option of testifying in public and then turned yellow when he actually accepted. Comer and Jordan held these hearings as part of their year-long, evidence-free impeachment attempt of President Biden which is solely about returning Donald Trump to power.
In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“MAGA House Republicans are up to the same old pathetic political stunts as we start the new year. We are on the verge of a MAGA fueled government shutdown and they are focused on these blatant games rather than helping the American people – all to return Donald Trump to the White House in 2024. James Comer and Jim Jordan spent all of 2023 obsessively investigating President Biden and they have not produced a single shred of evidence of wrongdoing by the President, let alone any high crime or misdemeanor warranting impeachment. These Republican members and their political stunts would be a joke if the consequences to America’s priorities and our democracy weren’t so dire.”
