Washington, D.C. – The House Homeland Security Committee held a hearing today full of partisan attacks and fearmongering about immigrants. In response, Congressional Integrity Project Executive Director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Today’s hearing was nothing more than a political stunt. Instead of working towards bipartisan solutions to address the opioid epidemic, MAGA House Republicans chose to use their platform today to attack their political opponents. While Democrats are focused on increasing our border security, Republican leadership in the House including Jim Jordan and James Comer have called for defunding the Department of Homeland Security, which will only make the problem worse. Americans deserve a House that fights for real solutions to real problems rather than one focused on conspiracy theories and political attacks.”
