Reporting this week illustrates that Trump’s DHS is barring aid groups—including the Salvation Army and the Red Cross—from providing food, housing, and other critical resources in the aftermath of disasters. This bureaucratic weaponization of emergency aid threatens to leave vulnerable communities without lifesaving assistance precisely when they need it most, turning natural disasters into opportunities for political cruelty.

“The consequences of Republicans’ war on civil society are devastating for communities with nowhere to turn when disaster strikes.
