Washington, D.C. – Today, MAGA House Republicans voted once again on a contempt resolution against Attorney General Merrick Garland. Rep. Jen Kiggans voted for the inherent contempt resolution which would have fined the Attorney General. The resolution failed with only a few Republicans voting against the blatant political stunt.
In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director Kyle Herrig said the following:
“The MAGA Trump cult came within a handful of votes of fining the Attorney General – the top law enforcement official in the country – for doing his job. This outrageous political stunt came within a whisker of succeeding which would have created an unprecedented constitutional crisis between two of our three branches of government in yet another example of how MAGA Republicans have been entirely focused on the wrong priorities. Today’s vote was supported by Rep. Jen Kiggans who should be delivering for her own constituents instead of only delivering for convicted felon Donald Trump.”
