Washington D.C. – A new story broke over the weekend detailing a $2 billion investment Jared Kusher received from the Saudi government after leaving the White House. James Comer downplayed the scandal when asked about it, which is baffling given Kushner’s reluctance to participate in any investigations. It just goes to show Comer is still protecting the Trump family. In response, Congressional Integrity Project Executive Director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:

“Where is James Comer’s outrage over Donald Trump’s son-in-law raking in billions from the Saudis after Trump and Kushner used their time in the White House to elevate and protect the Saudi prince? Comer is able to constantly feign outrage over every single action by President Biden’s family members, who are private citizens, while being more than happy to look the other way and defend Trump’s family from legitimate and damning scandals. James Comer spent the Trump administration protecting Trump and his family from investigations and now he is planning on using his position as Oversight Chair to do the same. It continues to be crystal clear that the American people cannot trust James Comer and MAGA House Republicans to conduct fair oversight. They are only interested in Trump-style partisan attacks on President Biden and Democrats.”
