Washington, D.C. – Today, the Committee on House Administration held a baseless, political hearing to provide a platform for election deniers and conspiracy theorists. At the hearing, members reprised the Big Lie that the 2020 presidential race was stolen and sowed seeds of doubt about the outcome of the 2024 election. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Today’s House Administration Committee hearing was another opportunity for MAGA election deniers to expound on the Big Lie and sow seeds of doubts about the upcoming 2024 election.
Donald Trump’s Big Lie has been debunked over and over again, yet MAGA Republicans gave election-denying conspiracy theorists a platform to continue to spread these lies and threaten our democracy. From this hearing to MAGA Republican Members of Congress attending Trump’s porn star fraud trial, MAGA Republicans have spent this entire week making a taxpayer-funded in-kind contribution to the Trump campaign. The American people deserve better.”
