Washington, D.C. – Today, President Biden signed an Executive Order strengthening border security. This Executive Order comes after MAGA House Republicans, at the demand of convicted felon Donald Trump, killed bipartisan border security legislation and refused to come to the table to address the issue. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Mike Johnson and his fellow MAGA House Republicans have spent over a year campaigning on border security, investigating the Homeland Security Secretary, and talking about the border on Fox News. They blocked bipartisan legislation on convicted felon Trump’s orders all so he could continue campaigning on the issue. Any opposition to this executive order from Mike Johnson and his fellow MAGA House Republicans, who have claimed to advocate for border action all year while failing to act, is just the next political stunt from the Trump playbook.”
