Washington, D.C. – This week, new reporting detailed the checkered past of James Comer’s latest star witness in the impeachment inquiry against President Biden, followed by the news that Matt Gaetz spoke at a fundraiser where he called the Biden impeachment investigation “unserious.”
In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director Kyle Herrig issued the following statement:
“We absolutely hate to say we agree with Matt Gaetz, but his comments make it clear that even the most MAGA Republicans know that the impeachment inquiry is completely unserious. Rather than focusing on the issues keeping working families up at night, MAGA Republicans in the House are engaging in chaotic infighting, threatening to shut down the government, and pursuing partisan impeachment stunts featuring debunked witnesses with violent histories. And they’re doing all of this at the direction of Donald Trump.”
