Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Homeland Security Committee held another bogus hearing regarding the fact-free, sham impeachment of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. On the heels of a leaked memo showing MAGA Republicans have already decided they will move forward with impeaching the Secretary, the hearing today embodied the political stunts pre-planned by MAGA House Republicans, who have failed to turn up a single shred of evidence worthy of impeaching the Secretary.
In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“MAGA House Republicans continue to pursue a bogus impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas without any evidence of impeachable offenses. This impeachment is a total sham and a complete distraction from House Republicans’ inability to legislate and refusal to come to the table to create bipartisan solutions to our outdated and broken immigration system. MAGA House Republicans continue to prove they have the wrong priorities by pursuing these clear political stunts while ignoring the important issues affecting Americans across the country.”
