Washington, D.C. – MAGA Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee are pushing forward with their bogus impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas with their first hearing set for next week. Instead of coming to the table with solutions to help fix our immigration system, Republicans are once again playing partisan, political games to harm President Biden and Democrats for purely political reasons while exacerbating the crisis at the border by rejecting President Biden’s proposals.
In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“As we begin a new year, House Republicans are up to the same old pathetic political stunts. There is bipartisan agreement that we have a broken immigration system and there has been an influx of migrants seeking asylum, but instead of working on solutions with the Secretary like a bipartisan group of Senators are doing, MAGA House Republicans are playing politics with yet another bogus impeachment effort. This is all part of their admitted plan to hurt President Biden and Democrats in an attempt to help get Donald Trump elected again.”
