Washington, D.C. – This weekend, new reporting exposed House Republicans for their plans to waste taxpayer money traveling around the country holding field hearings – many of which have and will benefit their major donors. In response, Congressional Integrity Project Executive Director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“It is bad enough that MAGA House Republicans are using taxpayer money to fund their brazen political stunts, but the fact that they are using this money to give their donors free advertising shows just how untrustworthy they are. They are taking a page right out of Trump’s playbook. House Republicans can try to frame these field hearings as getting out of the so-called swamp all they want, but the truth is that what they are doing is exactly the type of corruption and self-dealing that the American people want eliminated from politics. It is clear that they care more about attacking their political opponents and lining their donors’ pockets than focusing on solving the real issues Americans care about.”
