Washington, D.C. – Last night, Kevin McCarthy went on Fox News and baselessly claimed that House Republicans’ investigations were rising to the level of impeachment inquiry – despite them not finding a single shred of wrongdoing by President Biden. McCarthy’s comments come just days after it was reported that he cut a deal with Donald Trump to hold votes to expunge Trump’s two impeachments – and possibly just days before Trump is indicted for his role in the insurrection on January 6, 2021 and events before and after that fateful day. McCarthy’s comments and his constant genuflecting to Donald Trump proves once and for all that Trump is the true Speaker of the House and McCarthy is nothing more than a lifeless, feckless puppet. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement.

“Once again, Kevin McCarthy is doing de facto Speaker Donald Trump’s bidding and trying to appease the MAGA cult. It is no coincidence that he’s saying this right before a possible third indictment of Trump. Despite six months of obsessive focus, McCarthy, James Comer, and Jim Jordan, have failed to uncover any wrongdoing by the President and their fellow Republicans have admitted they have no evidence. While McCarthy floats an outrageous and unfounded impeachment of President Biden and is bending over backwards to let Trump off the hook, Republicans are totally ignoring the critical priorities the American people care about like the economy and health care. That Kevin McCarthy is nothing more than a lifeless and feckless puppet for Donald Trump is news to no one, least of all Kevin McCarthy.”
