Washington D.C. – While everyone is awaiting the final report from the January 6th Committee, Jim Jordan and some fellow members of Congress released a “report” of their own trying to deflect the blame. In response, Congressional Integrity Project’s Executive Director, Kyle Herrig, said the following:
“This so-called report is nothing but an attempt to excuse Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans for the attack on the Capitol and for trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election. It is laughable that anyone would think Jordan has any credibility whatsoever on this topic as someone who himself is implicated by the findings of the bipartisan January 6th Committee. The Republican report conspicuously leaves out anything that could be considered negative for Donald Trump and tries to place the blame on the hardworking law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line to protect Vice President Pence, Members of Congress, and staffers from Trump’s supporters. Thanks to the difficult work of the January 6th Committee, the American people know the truth about who is really to blame for January 6th.”
