Washington, D.C. – Today, Jim Jordan and his Subcommittee on Weaponization of the Federal Government held yet another nonsense hearing, this time featuring his star witness, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He still testified today despite multiple calls to disinvite him after his recent antisemitic and xenophobic comments following a long history of controversy. House Republicans and their witnesses used today’s hearing to share their unhinged and baseless conspiracy theories and sharply attack their Democratic colleagues. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Providing these fringe figures with a platform at a Congressional hearing is dangerous, inappropriate, and insulting. Jordan is attempting to paint himself as a champion of free speech, but all he is doing is endorsing Kennedy by providing him a platform for his hateful views. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has a long history of spreading dangerous conspiracy theories about issues such as vaccines, Covid-19, and election integrity. His frequent palling around with antisemites and spreading antisemitic and xenophobic conspiracy theories proves he is one of the least credible witnesses to walk into a hearing room. This hearing shows just how far the MAGA House GOP and Jim Jordan are willing to go to push partisan stunts in a pathetic attempt to get their twice-indicted leader Donald Trump re-elected and further their extreme agenda.”
