Washington, D.C. – Today, Jim Jordan announced his latest political stunt attempting to harm President Biden ahead of this week’s presidential debate and the 2024 election – holding President Biden’s ghostwriter, a private citizen, in contempt of Congress. The DOJ already provided public testimony and transcripts of the Special Counsel Office interviews of Mark Zwonitzer to the House Judiciary Committee earlier – making this contempt hearing another empty stunt. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Jim Jordan and Trump’s MAGA House cronies continue to act as an arm of Trump’s campaign. MAGA House Republicans have found no evidence of wrongdoing whatsoever committed by the President, and already have public testimony and transcripts from this individual – this is just their latest antic to tarnish the President. MAGA House Republicans continue to desperately chase these bogus stunts and ignore the real important priorities of Americans across the country, like access to health care, the cost of living, or border security.”
