Washington, D.C. – Today, Jim Jordan and his fellow MAGA House Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee held yet another hearing for the sole purpose of using their government positions to shield convicted felon Donald Trump from accountability for his crimes. As always, the hearing was full of lies, debunked conspiracy theories, and attacks on the rule of law. The hearing was a pathetic political stunt with the express purpose of trying to help Donald Trump and hurt President Biden.
Ahead of today’s hearing, Congressional Integrity Project released a report outlining the numerous ways that MAGA House Republicans have abused their congressional oversight power to interfere with Donald Trump’s criminal trials and his felony conviction and attack the rule of law.
In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Jim Jordan has spent over a year using his committee chairmanship to do convicted felon Donald Trump’s bidding. He has weaponized Congressional oversight to interfere with Trump’s criminal trials, attacked prosecutors and judges, and brought a bogus and unsuccessful impeachment effort against Joe Biden. As Congressman Nadler said today, Jim Jordan’s Judiciary Committee ‘has become little more than a field office for the Trump campaign.’ Jordan and MAGA House Republicans have repeatedly proven they are putting their sycophantic loyalty to Trump over the rule of law and the important priorities of Americans across the country, like border security and lowering costs.”
