Washington, D.C. – Today, James Comer is using the House Oversight Committee to once again support Donald Trump’s political agenda by hosting a hearing on oversight of the Department of Energy. This hearing follows Trump recently hosting oil executives and lobbyists at Mar-a-Lago and promising to roll back oil regulations in exchange for $1 billion in campaign funds. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“James Comer and House Republicans have nothing but the wrong priorities. They have spent the past year and a half blatantly ignoring the issues that matter to Americans across the country, like border security, the cost of living, or access to health care, all to do Trump’s bidding and dirty work. His baseless Biden impeachment inquiry has gone up in flames, now he continues to use his committee to push Trump’s political agenda, rather than working on behalf of the American people – in this case shilling for the oil barons funding his campaign.”
