Washington, D.C. – Today, in a shameful display, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick and his fellow MAGA House Republicans voted to formally open an impeachment inquiry into President Biden. They are pushing ahead with this Trump-directed, desperate political stunt, despite the fact that their year-long investigation has not produced a single shred of evidence of wrongdoing by the President, let alone any high crime or misdemeanor warranting impeachment.
In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Brian Fitzpatrick and MAGA House Republicans have taken a blatantly political stance tonight. They chose to stand with Donald Trump, the disgraced former president facing 91 criminal indictments, NOT with the American people and their important priorities like health care and addressing the cost of living. Despite Republican members like James Comer and Jim Jordan failing to uncover a single shred of evidence of wrongdoing whatsoever, the MAGA House Republicans have chosen to allow this political stunt to continue. Brian Fitzpatrick and every other member who voted for this sham impeachment inquiry will be held accountable for their actions.”
