Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, James Comer announced he will begin the process to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray – a Trump appointee – in contempt over a single form Comer claims has bombshell information. But Comer has shown he is not interested in conducting credible investigations – recently admitting in an interview that his investigations into President Biden are really all about getting Donald Trump re-elected. He has also kept House Oversight Democrats, including Ranking Member Raskin, in the dark and refused them access to information. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“James Comer continues to try to make hay out of this alleged FBI document but just like his other so-called investigations, he is all hat, no cattle. Comer and House Republicans have failed again and again to prove any evidence of wrongdoing by Joe Biden – but that hasn’t stopped them from going on TV pushing these ridiculous allegations and innuendo. They have admitted that they are only focused on hurting President Biden and the Democrats and helping Trump worm his way back into the White House. If Comer actually had proof of anything, he would have immediately shared it with the American people instead of hiding information even from members of his own committee.”
