Washington D.C. – Yesterday, James Comer called for a government shutdown over baseless conspiracy theories, saying, “If the Senate goes along with this omnibus bill and ties our hands for the next twelve months, where we can’t cut [the FBI’s] budget, then shame on the Senate.” In response Congressional Integrity Project senior adviser Brad Woodhouse said the following:
“MAGA Republicans like James Comer continue to put their personal vendetta against President Biden over the American people. Threatening to shut down the government and furlough employees right before Christmas just shows how radical these people are. The party that always baselessly claims to support law enforcement is calling for defunding the FBI over conspiracy theories about the President’s family. ‘Shame on the Senate,’ really? Shame on James Comer and his MAGA Republican allies.”
