Washington, D.C. – Today, it was reported that convicted felon Donald Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, authored a foreword for a new book written by the architect of Project 2025. The book’s Amazon page also features a review from Vance, where he uses violent imagery to describe the book. Congressional Integrity Project condemns the violent rhetoric used by Vance in the review, as well as the multiple other instances in which he has used violent language. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director Kyle Herrig said the following:
“The violent rhetoric repeatedly used and embraced by J.D. Vance and his fellow MAGA Republicans has no place in our democracy. It is undeniable that Donald Trump and his running mate are familiar with Project 2025 and will stop at nothing to see the 34 count convicted felon return to power and enact their extreme agenda. J.D. Vance has a long history of standing by political violence and embracing the lies of Trump intended to undermine our democracy.”
More Times J.D. Vance Has Used Violent Rhetoric:
- Trump’s Running Mate J.D. Vance Invited A Speaker Who Called For “Civil War” If He Loses. During a rally for Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance, one of the opening speakers, Republican Ohio State Sen. George Lang, declared, “it’s going to take a civil war to save the country” if Republicans lose the 2024 election.
- GOP Vice Presidential Nominee J.D. Vance Still Refuses To Call January 6 An Insurrection. Like Trump, Vance has worked to rewrite the history of January 6 and rehabilitate those who attempted to overturn a free and fair election. Vance said that calling the January 6 attack on the Capitol an “insurrection” is the “dumbest thing in the world.
- GOP Vice Presidential Nominee J.D. Vance Refused To Attribute An Assassination Attempt Against Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s To Republican Rhetoric. During a Fox News town hall, Vance reportedly argued that the attempted assassination of Nancy Pelosi in November 2022 – in which an extremist broke into her San Francisco home and attacked her husband with a hammer – was not reflective of Republicans, but instead reflective of people living in the country illegally.
