Washington, D.C. – Today, House Republican leadership announced their latest attack on the rule of law – filing an amicus brief with the D.C. Circuit to help shield Trump advisor Steve Bannon from justice in his contempt of Congress conviction. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“This Hail Mary attempt to help a Trump advisor avoid his contempt of Congress conviction is just the latest action from the MAGA House GOP to attack the rule of law and undermine our justice system to benefit Donald Trump. MAGA House Republicans have made clear that their top priority is acting as an arm of convicted felon Donald Trump’s campaign – even if it means failing to address the real issues Americans care about like cost of living, border security, and access to health care. The American people deserve better.”
