As GOP Lawmakers Face Hostile Town Halls Over Trump Agenda, Republicans Choose Sham Investigations Over Addressing Constituents Needs
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republican lawmakers across the country are facing hostility from constituents over their support for Trump’s agenda, with town halls erupting in boos, jeers, and chants of “Vote him out!” From Nebraska’s Mike Flood being drowned out by angry voters within thirty seconds of speaking, to Pennsylvania’s Rob Bresnahan defending health care cuts that have devastated working families, the message is clear: Americans are fed up with their representatives rubber-stamping Trump’s disastrous policies.
Instead of addressing urgent concerns like health care and food assistance cuts and rising living costs, Republicans are wasting time and taxpayer money on partisan distractions. They’re launching frivolous investigations into Democratic fundraising platforms like ActBlue, ignoring calls to investigate WinRed for illegal activity, and leaving their voters without answers or solutions to real problems.

New York Times: A G.O.P. Congressman Faced Hometown Voters. It Wasn’t Pretty.
Representative Mike Flood, Republican of Nebraska, was not even 30 seconds into his prepared introduction at a town hall in Lincoln on Monday evening when the booing and the jeering began. Then it didn’t let up for over an hour.
This was exactly the kind of reception many Republicans dreaded as they headed home to their districts for their six-week summer break.
Faced with selling a major piece of legislation that polls show is broadly unpopular and confronted with ruptures in Mr. Trump’s base over his handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case, they risk being met with angry questions for which they have no easy answers. And town halls have proven to be a perfect outlet for a wave of energy from Democrats who see an opportunity to knock Republicans off balance more than a year ahead of the midterm elections.
NPR: Nebraska’s Mike Flood got an earful from voters. He’s still standing by Trump’s agenda
Representative Mike Flood felt the full fury of his constituents over his support of President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” at a town hall meeting in Lincoln, Nebraska this week.
Flood — a second-term Republican — hosted the public gathering Monday night where attendees loudly berated him about concerns that social safety net programs, namely Medicaid, would be affected by the president’s signature piece of legislation.
Attendees from the crowd of more than 700 also questioned the president’s controversial approach to immigration enforcement and repeatedly heckled Flood as he tried to defend the tax and spending measure. At one point many in the audience chanted “Tax the rich!”
Colorado Times Recorder: Greeley Protest: ‘Where’s That Evans Guy?’
More than a hundred people turned out to Greeley’s Lincoln Park Saturday to participate in the latest Rage Against the Regime, 50501 protest.
While there were a variety of grievances being articulated in public statements and private conversations, the overriding message was outrage at Evans, who has yet to make an appearance at an in-person town hall in his district despite holding office for six months.
Scranton Times-Tribune: Community members break down ways GOP cuts have impacted Americans at Scranton town hall
In introductory remarks, Marc Stier, executive director of Pennsylvania Policy Center, criticized the One Big Beautiful Bill Act for giving more money to billionaires, adding many in Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District will lose Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Medicaid benefits. He said U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan, R-8, Dallas Twp., hasn’t worked for them.
Panelists at the town hall shared the bill’s impacts on people’s lives and how Bresnahan and Republican U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick supported the initiatives. Both lawmakers have defended their support for the bill, stating it helps people in Pennsylvania while increasing funding for border security.
