Rep. Comer Continues To Turn a Blind Eye to Shady WinRed Campaign Finance Violations

Aug 5, 2025

House GOP Leaders Refuse to Investigate WinRed Violations, Foreign Connections While Launching Baseless Attacks on Democratic Platform ActBlue

WASHINGTON, D.C. — House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer refuses to examine systematic campaign finance violations by Republican fundraising platform WinRed, instead choosing to launch baseless attacks against Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue alongside House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan and House Administration Committee Chair Bryan Steil. These attacks target ActBlue over allegations that experts have dismissed as “not serious.”

One week ago, the Congressional Integrity Project sent a formal letter to Reps. Comer, Jordan, and Steil demanding an investigation into WinRed, but thus far the three committee chairs have remained silent. The letter details extensive evidence, including Trump’s acceptance of possibly illegal foreign donations from over 200 unverified donors abroad, contributions from anonymous donors using fake addresses like “999 Anonymous Dr.,” and WinRed’s rejection of fewer than 40 contributions despite accepting donations from fake addresses and anonymous donors.

Republicans’ selective approach to oversight exposes their unwillingness to investigate suspected violations of the law within their own party’s fundraising apparatus.

In response, the Congressional Integrity Project released the following statement:

“Reps. Comer, Jordan, and Steil’s refusal to investigate documented WinRed violations while launching baseless attacks against ActBlue reveals everything we need to know about their commitment to so-called ’election integrity.’ These Republicans will investigate Democratic fundraising platforms based on debunked conspiracy theories, yet when presented with evidence of actual illegal foreign donations and fraudulent contributions flowing through their own party’s platform, they turn a blind eye.

“Their selective enforcement makes clear that their ‘oversight’ efforts are nothing more than political theater designed to protect Trump and distract from real corruption within their own party. The American people deserve better than this partisan charade masquerading as legitimate oversight.”
