Washington, D.C. – Congressional Republicans are trying to weaponize the Covid-19 pandemic against President Biden and Democrats following a report on the origins from the Department of Energy while conspicuously ignoring Donald Trump’s repeated praise of China’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. In response, Congressional Integrity Project Senior Advisor, Brad Woodhouse, issued the following statement:
“If Republicans really want to know the truth about what the U.S. government knew about Covid-19 origins, they should be asking their leader, Donald Trump. He repeatedly praised China for ‘transparency’ and leadership and even said that he thought President Xi handled the country’s Covid-19 response ‘very well.’ Will these MAGA Republicans step up and scrutinize Trump for his close relationship with China and praise of their Covid-19 response? I think we all know the answer to that.”
