Coming off of the face-plant of the first impeachment hearing of President Biden, it’s clear that James Comer, Jim Jordan, Kevin McCarthy, and MAGA House Republicans have no evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden and are focused on the wrong priorities. An impeachment inquiry into President Biden is far from the top priority of everyday Americans; over the past month, polling has consistently shown that Americans do not support House Republicans’ baseless impeachment inquiry into President Biden.
This week, a Navigator poll showed that most Americans do not support impeaching President Biden, while a Monmouth University poll found that just one-third of Americans say President Biden should be impeached and 83 percent of voters have little or no trust in House Republicans’ baseless impeachment inquiry. An NBC News poll found that six in 10 independents oppose the hearings, and a poll of voters in three key battleground states found that over two-thirds of voters there would rather Republicans in Congress focus more on addressing issues like inflation and the economy than on impeaching Biden. Earlier this month, two polls similarly found that a majority of Americans oppose efforts to impeach President Biden – including a majority of voters in key battleground districts.
