Washington, D.C. – Last night, the MAGA Republicans on the House Rules Committee held a hearing to prepare the evidence-free articles of impeachment against Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas ahead of a vote on the House floor. Today, MAGA Republicans are expected to bring the articles of impeachment to a floor vote. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“MAGA Republicans should be ashamed of themselves. They are ignoring the very real, bipartisan border bill to prioritize false attacks on Secretary Mayorkas, all to hurt President Biden politically. Rather than focus on fixing our broken and outdated immigration system or the other issues keeping Americans up at night like health care costs, MAGA Republicans are following the lead of Marjorie Taylor Greene and Donald Trump to continue pushing this partisan charade.”
