Washington, D.C. – Last night, court filings revealed that James Comer and Jim Jordan’s star witness in their impeachment investigation – who was charged with criminally lying about his accusations about the President and his son – met with and was being fed information by Russian intelligence officials. Smirnov’s initial accusations are the basis for James Comer and Jim Jordan’s impeachment inquiry into President Biden.
In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“James Comer, Jim Jordan, and the MAGA Republican Caucus have been pushing a Russian disinformation campaign to smear President Biden and his family and to help Putin-apologist Donald Trump. It’s that simple. Comer and Jordan are complicit in supporting Russian election interference. MAGA House Republicans have spent the last year on this political stunt to help Putin and Trump – instead of delivering for their own constituents on the issues they care about like the economy and access to health care. MAGA House Republicans need to end this sham impeachment immediately and apologize to the country for this farce.”
