Washington, D.C. — Capital One disclosed in a court filing this weekend that it shut down hundreds of Trump Organization accounts in 2021 after flagging transaction patterns consistent with money laundering. The bank made the disclosure while fighting Donald Trump’s lawsuit falsely claiming the closures were political in nature. House Oversight Chair James Comer and Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, who thought it was appropriate to conduct a multi-year probe into Hunter Biden’s paintings, have said nothing about a sitting president’s namesake company getting flagged for money laundering.
Congressional Integrity Project spokesperson Jeremy Funk released the following statement:
“James Comer and Jim Jordan thought it was a good use of their time to chase Hunter Biden’s art career across multiple House committees. But they can’t be bothered to ask a single question about hundreds of Trump bank accounts flagged for fraudulent activity. When a Democrat sells a painting, it’s investigations and countless interviews on Fox News. When Donald Trump gets flagged for money laundering, it’s crickets. With Comer and Jordan, it’ll always be ‘oversight for thee, but not for me.’”
