The MAGA House GOP is launching a full-scale effort to defend Donald Trump from the myriad legal proceedings against him. Over the weekend, Trump himself leaked news that he expected to be arrested on Tuesday and told his supporters to “protest” and “take our nation back.” Republicans on the powerful House Oversight Committee have acted accordingly, adding fuel to the fire by calling the investigation a sham and a distraction, threatening those investigating Trump’s alleged wrongdoings with investigations of their own. MAGA Republicans have always prioritized their own political games over the real issues facing the American people, and they will stop at nothing to defend Trump and attack President Biden and his family at all costs. But don’t just take our word for it:
Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY):
- “Well, it’s very odd that [the news of a possible Trump indictment] would come out just the very next day after I revealed bank records which showed that the Biden family — the president in particular — hasn’t been truthful with respect to his family receiving payments directly from the Chinese communist party. So, it almost looks like it’s an effort to detract.”
- “When speaking about business dealings with the Biden family, Rob Walker once said that exposing him would ‘bury all of us, man.’ Why? @GOPoversight has many questions for Rob Walker and we look forward to getting answers for the American people.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA):
- “It feels like 2017 all over again. When the Russia hoax started and Republicans backed away from our innocent President Trump and allowed him to be viciously attacked and lied about. The base will not support Republicans who back away this time. The base feels like if the Republican Party can’t, or worse, won’t stop the Communist Democrat’s weaponized political machine trying to arrest President Trump for stupid fake charges, then they can’t trust Republicans to do anything. I don’t blame them.”
- “No other person has undermined our democracy more than George Soros. Why is still allowed to maintain his citizenship?”
- “How many Feds/Fed assets are in place to turn protest against the political arrest of Pres Trump into violence?”
- “If the Manhattan DA indicts President Trump, he will ultimately win even bigger than he is already going to win. And those Republicans that stand by and cheer for his persecution or do nothing to stop it will be exposed to the people and will be remembered, scorned, and punished by the base. President Trump did nothing wrong and has always fought for the American people, and we all know it, which is why we love him. And any Republican who thinks the Democrats will stop this madness once Trump is out of the way is fooling themselves. Weaponized Government and Political Persecution are new chapters in their playbook and they will use those methods against anyone who stands in their way. And we are absolutely fed up with the two-tiered justice system or rather INJUSTICE system in America. The base has had enough of Republicans that won’t stand up for the people and against the Democrats [sic] war against Trump, his admin, his supporters, and traditional values.”
Rep. Nick Langworthy (R-NY):
- “Manhattan DA Bragg is the worst DA in America. He won’t keep Manhattanites safe, he won’t prosecute violent criminals & when he first took office, circulated a memo of all the charges his office will no longer prosecute.”

Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO):
- “The American people see right through this politically charged sham put on by a radical DA.”

- “What’s happening to President Trump is an absolute sham. This is a radical DA who’d rather arrest political opponents than catch criminals. Of course, this all starts happening as soon as we find out that the Biden Family Apparatus was being paid by a Chinese energy company.”
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL): “I think it’s one of the worst uses of the justice system we’ve ever seen. This kind of two-tier prosecution, this gotcha mentality with the criminal justice system, is flat out wrong.”
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO): It is ridiculous that Hillary Clinton and others walk around without a care in the world while President Trump is put through hell on earth. The Democrats know they won’t be able to beat our ideas at the ballot box in 2024 so think this is their only hope. We are living in truly perilous times.
Rep. William Timmons (R-LA): “As a former prosecutor, it is appalling, but unfortunately not surprising, that the radical left is again weaponizing the criminal justice system against their political opponents. This is the stuff of third world banana republics, not the United States of America.”
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL): Alvin Bragg is bought and paid for by George Soros and has repeatedly showed [sic] his hatred for President Trump based on purely political motives. It’s time for Congress to fully investigate and subpoena to see if taxpayer funds are being used to push this persecution.”
