FACT CHECKING JIM JORDAN: No, There Is No Case For Impeaching President Biden

JORDAN’S LATEST LIE:

Jim Jordan told Punchbowl News recently that impeachment is still an open case, declaring, “The case is compelling.”

THE FACTS: 

Jim Jordan, James Comer, and other MAGA House Republicans have spent over a year relentlessly investigating President Biden and have not found a single shred of evidence indicating wrongdoing by him – let alone an impeachable offense.

But don’t just take our word for it! Republican lawmakers have spent months admitting that they have failed to present any impeachable evidence. 

  • James Comer himself privately admitted to his MAGA colleagues that he’s ready to be “done with” his evidence-free impeachment against President Biden after over a year of failure. [CNN, 4/24/24]
  • GOP lawmaker: “I think early on, the most important thing to do is to let the evidence lead the investigation. And I think some of the earlier statements got a little more aspirational than the evidence really allowed.” [CNN, 4/24/24]
  • GOP lawmaker: “[Comer] seemed to think he had a lot of stuff that just seemed to indicate some things that needed to be investigated. I don’t know what happened.” [CNN, 4/24/24]
  • One House Republican: “I don’t see it going anywhere substantive.” [Axios, 2/23/24]
  • One House Republican Lawmaker: “It’s been a parade of embarrassments.” [The Messenger, 1/24/24]
  • Rep. Garret Graves (R-LA): “There’s nothing that’s come up so far that makes me think that this thing’s anything close to ready for a vote, meaning that I have not seen any impeachable offenses.   • Rep. John Curtis (R-UT): “My bar for impeachment is incredibly high… For me it’s all about is there an impeachable offense and is there evidence of an impeachable offense.” When asked if he has seen anything that comes close to that bar, he replied: “No.” [Forbes, 12/2/23, VIDEO]
  • Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI): When asked on Fox Business if she could identify any evidence of corrupt policy decisions President Biden made in connection with alleged money laundering, McClain replied, “The short answer is no…” [Fox Business, 11/28/23, VIDEO]
  • Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL): “I don’t believe that we are endeavoring upon a legitimate impeachment of Joe Biden. ” [NBC News, 10/6/23]
  • Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX): McCaul admitted on Fox News that “we don’t have the evidence” to support impeaching President Biden. [Fox News, 9/17/23, VIDEO]
  • Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA): “There has to be an aha moment… The actual participation (in Hunter’s deals) by the vice president and now president – that still has to be discovered and or nailed down.
