Disinfo Dispatch: Trump Family Cashes In on the Pentagon While His Agencies Wage War on Protesters and the Climate

Aug 6, 2026

Washington, D.C. — Congressional Democrats are demanding a Pentagon investigation after Donald Trump’s sons raked in $3.2 billion in defense contracts and investments. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has sent nine ICE protesters to prison for decades under a bogus terrorism charge built around “antifa,” an organization that doesn’t exist. And the EPA got caught red-handed trying to illegally seize billions meant for clean energy.

Congressional Democrats Demand Probe Into Trump Family’s Pentagon Cash-In

Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Richard Blumenthal, Tammy Duckworth, and Rep. Robert Garcia are demanding the Pentagon’s inspector general investigate after reporting revealed 15 companies tied to Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. have gained $3.2 billion in federal contracts, investments, and loans, most of it since Trump took office again. Trump-linked companies have tripled their government funding since his second term began, and one firm, Vulcan Elements, was fast-tracked for a $620 million Pentagon loan after a senior White House official personally intervened on its behalf. Lawmakers say the Pentagon and White House have repeatedly stonewalled their requests for basic answers about how these awards are made. If the inspector general won’t get to the bottom of it, Congressional Democrats are prepared to launch their own investigation into Trump family grift next year.

Trump’s DOJ Sends Protesters to Prison for Decades for Opposing His Immigration Crackdown

When nine activists showed up to protest ICE under Donald Trump, his administration decided to make an example out of them, labeling them terrorists and getting them sent away for years. For the “crime” of protesting outside a Texas ICE facility last year, the activists were given prison sentences between 15 and 100 years. Trump has unilaterally declared “antifa,” which doesn’t exist, a domestic terrorist group, and his DOJ is using that fantasy to justify throwing protesters in prison for decades. And they’ve made clear this is only the beginning. Anyone who protests this administration is now on notice: speak out, and you could lose your life to a federal prison cell.

Appeals Court Rebukes EPA’s Illegal Grab of Climate Funds

The D.C. Circuit has ruled that the EPA’s attempt to claw back $20 billion in climate grants likely broke the law. It’s a pattern that started in the earliest days of Trump’s second term: illegally cut off funding and invent a justification later. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin froze the funds and terminated the grants outright, inventing bogus fraud accusations against the nonprofits running the program to justify his actions. When a federal judge demanded evidence of that “fraud,” the administration had none, pivoting to vague “oversight” concerns instead. Six of ten appellate judges agreed the seizure was a policy disagreement dressed up as a legal one. The ruling is on hold while Zeldin’s EPA runs to the Supreme Court to beg them to bail him out.
