Congressional Republicans Hold Hearings on Antisemitism in Institutions While Ignoring Extremism in Their Own Ranks

Sep 10, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, Congressional Republicans are conducting two hearings focused on antisemitism, with the House Committee on Education and Workforce examining the issue in unions yesterday and in schools today. However, rather than addressing the documented antisemites and extremists within their own party and the Trump administration, Congressional Republicans are targeting unions, working Americans, educators, and students. This selective focus raises questions about whether they’re genuinely committed to fighting antisemitism or simply wielding it as a political weapon against opponents and institutions that champion working families and public education.

In response, the Congressional Integrity Project released the following statement:

“While Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans normalize conspiracy theorists and bigots within their own party, they are busy deflecting attention by holding hearings on antisemitism in valued American institutions such as our schools and unions. Congressional Republicans must first confront the dangerous extremists in their own ranks before targeting the educators and labor organizations that serve as pillars of our democracy.”
