Washington D.C. – Today, Republicans announced that many of the most extreme MAGA Republicans in the House would sit on the Oversight Committee. Congressional Integrity Project Executive Director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following response:
“The inmates are running the asylum in the House Republican caucus and having conspiracy theorists running House Oversight Committee investigations shows just how unserious they are. How are Americans supposed to take any investigations seriously when they are led by Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Paul Gosar, Scott Perry, and others. They are all some mix of election deniers, subpoena defiers and insurrectionist supporters and the notion of this committee doing any even-handed, meaningful oversight is a total joke and should be treated as such.”
