Washington, D.C. – Today, former President Donald Trump was indicted by a federal grand jury for what is believed to be charges related to his possession of classified documents kept at his Florida home – documents he was not entitled to keep and which he kept despite numerous attempts by government agencies to retrieve them. Despite this indictment, Trump’s indictment on 34 felony counts of business fraud in New York in a scheme to hide from voters an affair with a porn star, and a recent finding by a jury in Manhattan that he sexually assaulted a woman two decades ago, MAGA Republicans in Congress are rushing to his defense and have launched bogus investigations into President Biden to distract from Trump’s troubles.
In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:
“Donald Trump is the man James Comer, Jim Jordan, and their fellow MAGA keystone cops are trying desperately to protect and want to become President of the United States once again. They want at all costs to protect a man facing 34 business fraud felony indictments in New York related to covering up an affair with a porn star, who was found by a jury to have sexually assaulted E. Jean Carroll, who he also defamed, and who has now been indicted by a federal grand jury because they all worship at the altar of MAGA. MAGA Republicans will stand with Trump because they only care about increasing their own power to pass their extreme agenda and not solving the real problems that most Americans face every day.”
