Washington, D.C. – Today, former president Donald Trump was arraigned after being indicted by a federal grand jury on four felony counts for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, one he knew he lost, along with his actions leading up to the January 6th attack on our Capitol. This is the third indictment this year for the former president, in addition to his previous 37 criminal counts over the highly classified documents he hid at Mar-a-Lago and 34 felony counts of business fraud in New York in a scheme to hide an affair with a porn star from voters. In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:

“In each of these cases, a grand jury of everyday Americans have decided to hold the former president accountable for his actions, while MAGA Republicans have been actively obstructing efforts to bring Donald Trump to justice. Kevin McCarthy, James Comer, Jim Jordan, and their fellow House Republicans will chase every bogus investigation into President Biden as retaliation for the valid investigations into their disgraced leader. However,  MAGA Republicans cannot find a single shred of evidence pointing to any evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden but will ignore the mountains of guilty evidence pointing to Donald Trump. No one is above the law including former presidents, members of Congress, or other elected officials.”
