Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressional Integrity Project in a letter called on the U.S. House of Representatives Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate House Oversight Committee member Lauren Boebert (R-CO-03) for potential violations of House Ethics Rules governing the behavior of members. This letter follows news that Boebert was ejected from a family-oriented theatrical production for vaping and engaging in publicly lewd behavior. Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:

“The only bigger disgrace than Lauren Boebert’s behavior is that she is allowed to serve on one of the most powerful committees in Congress investigating other people’s actions. While MAGA Republicans who persecute their political opponents without evidence or fact will turn a blind eye to video of Boebert’s lewd behavior, including groping her date in public, the Office of Congressional Ethics has an obligation to investigate her behavior and take appropriate action as we have called on them to do. As for Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, who has turned his panel into ‘the Committee to Reelect Donald Trump,’ having the decency or courage to hold Boebert accountable we won’t hold our breath.”
