Washington, D.C. – A recent New York Times article revealed that Representative Anthony D’Esposito (NY-4) hired both a woman with whom he was having an affair and his longtime fiancée’s daughter to work in his Congressional office, which may have transgressed House ethics rules designed to combat nepotism and corruption. In response, the Congressional Integrity Project has sent a letter to the Office of Congressional Ethics, requesting an investigation into Rep. D’Esposito’s use of his office funds to hire close associates and family members.

In response, Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:

“We urge the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate Representative D’Esposito’s actions immediately. He has violated his constituents’ trust and possibly the House Rules and the U.S. House Committee on Ethics guidance. D’Esposito and his MAGA House Republicans have wasted taxpayer resources the entire time they have been in the majority, focusing on the wrong priorities and with nothing to show for it but a year of legislative failures.
