Washington, D.C. – Following reporting yesterday that Donald Trump’s media company was saved in part by a Russian-American businessman under scrutiny in a federal insider trading and money-laundering investigation and additional reporting that two other Trump Media investors pleaded guilty to securities fraud, the Congressional Integrity Project sent a letter to Rep. James Comer, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, urging him to investigate possible influence peddling and corruption involving the former president and current presidential candidate.

Congressional Integrity Project executive director, Kyle Herrig, issued the following statement:

“Over and over again, James Comer has said that investigating influence peddling and corruption in our government is a top priority of his, particularly in regard to our adversaries like Russia and China. Trump’s business dealings with Russia present a clear conflict of interest and threaten our national security. Now that Comer’s baseless Biden impeachment investigation is officially dead, we urge Comer to move on and turn his investigation to the Trump family and their business dealings since leaving the White House.”
