Washington, D.C. – New reporting from NPR revealed that members of Donald Trump’s campaign staff got into a verbal and physical altercation on Monday with an Arlington National Cemetery official. The cemetery official was trying to stop Trump’s campaign from taking photographs and videos in Section 60 where photography is forbidden. It is also a violation of federal law to use Arlington National Cemetery for campaign purposes. Today, the Congressional Integrity Project is calling on Rep. James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, to launch an investigation into the incident and the Trump campaign’s use of Arlington National Cemetery for political purposes.

Congressional Integrity Project executive director Kyle Herrig said the following:

“James Comer has spent the past year-and-a-half pursuing baseless political stunts and weaponizing his own committee on behalf of Donald Trump. He has completely ignored the numerous allegations of possible foreign election interference, influence peddling, and campaign finance law violations by Donald Trump. Comer and MAGA House Republicans have failed to hold a single hearing, send any letters, or officially request any information. A candidate for president is using fallen soldiers as political props and his campaign staff got into a physical altercation with Arlington National Cemetery staff. Trump’s own former Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper, called for an investigation into this concerning incident. The American people deserve answers.”
