Re: Three Questions Biden-Harris 17 Need To Answer About The 2024 Election And Ongoing MAGA Election Denialism
Date: October 8, 2024

It has been almost four years since Americans across the country rejected Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda and elected Joe Biden as President in 2020. Still to this day, Trump and his MAGA Republican allies are spreading lies that a fair and free election was stolen, sowing doubt in our election processes and attempting to subvert our democracy, which led to the violent and deadly January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol. Now, Trump and his MAGA Republican lackeys have been ramping up attacks on democracy and the 2024 elections as we get closer to November.

MAGA House Republicans have spent their time in the majority acting as an arm of the Trump campaign and have worked with Trump to lay the groundwork for a potential second coup attempt if Trump loses at the ballot box in November.

With less than a month until the election and only a few months until Congress needs to certify the 2024 election results, the Biden-Harris 17 need to answer these questions:

1. Will you commit to accepting and certifying the 2024 election results even if Trump loses?

Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans have been laying the groundwork to try to overturn the 2024 election if he loses again. It is imperative that every single member answers whether or not they will do their constitutional duty and certify the results. House Speaker Mike Johnson recently refused to unequivocally commit to certifying the results of the 2024 election. The Biden-Harris 17, and all members, need to tell the American people where they stand on this vital issue.

2. Will you agree that President Biden won the 2020 election?

Donald Trump, JD Vance, Mike Johnson, and their fellow MAGA Republicans have been continuing to spread lies about the 2020 presidential election. Donald Trump has repeatedly refused to publicly acknowledge that he knowingly lost the 2020 election including in last month’s Presidential debate and at many of his campaign rallies. Just this weekend Mike Johnson refused to say that President Biden won the 2020 election. In last week’s Vice Presidential debate JD Vance refused to say if Trump lost the 2020 election.

3. Will you denounce efforts by President Trump, JD Vance, Mike Johnson, and others to sow doubts about the upcoming 2024 election?

With the 2024 presidential election only a month away, Donald Trump, JD Vance, and MAGA Republicans across the country continue to sow doubt in our elections, whipping up supporters, and employing the same dangerous tactics they did before, during, and after the 2020 election. The Big Lie conspiracy theories spouted by MAGA Republicans around the 2020 election created so much division in our country and undermined faith in our institutions. Trump has repeatedly spouted debunked election conspiracy theories, JD Vance has spread many of the same conspiracy theories and spoken at events organized by major 2020 election deniers.
